Part 2: Exploring Tallinn Estonia.

In a daft moment of mine a week or two ago, I booked a long haul bus from Berlin to Estonia. 24 hours of travel! It felt like an adventure at the time but the reality was quite different!

A saving grace I booked the front seat. But from here I could see the driver texting, eating, swerving, it basically felt like I was on that magic bus in Harry Potter! As I type this I am in the dark depth of the morning somewhere 3 hours south of Tallinn, probably northern Latvia. It has been sort of interesting, but I think next time a plane ride would be far more efficient use of my time! The best part I have to say was buying a bag of apples on the road side for 2 euro. 9 giant apples, and I almost ate all of them!

I am really looking forward to visiting my friend Kadi ann. She has had a little baby girl in the past 6 months so it will be wonderful to meet her too!

I started this blog on that damn bus, and now I am a number of days into my stay here in Tallinn, and all is going really well! What a cute city it is. I love all the old architecture, the different coloured buildings, quaint old town vibes, and another super cute (overpriced) Christmas market.

I have been spending heaps of quality time with my friend KA. She lives a little out of town which has been perfect to see the suburb homes and take walks in the nearby forest. It even snowed the other day which was really quite magical. Crispy light snow flakes falling from the sky, for a Perth girl it really was quite a unique experience!

It has been so fun to be travelling again. I love exploring and learning about new places, meeting new people and trying different foods. It really fills my adventure cup! And it is only adding fuel to the fire of my wanderlust.

I have been taking a billion photos and bombing the hell out of my instagram feed. I do love to take pictures, and when we are in our own homes it’s just not as exciting to take so many photos. But here everything is new and exciting and different and interesting.

I am feeling guilty that I am so close to Riga and not able to travel there on this trip. Same goes for visiting my friends in Finland and Norway! Everything is so close! I will have to come back and tour around and visit everyone again another time.

Christmas is coming soon. I am lucky to be celebrating with my friend KA and her family this year. We will gather on the 24th which is tradition here in Europe, and share a meal together from around 3 or 4pm. I even bought a new Christmas jumper at the market the other day to get in the mood even more!

It really is so special to be here in Estonia at this time of year. I am enjoying the cool change in temperature, it is really hot in Perth where I am from, around 42 degrees today which is ghastly! I like the cold, when you are all rugged up in the right clothes then it is very pleasant, and in fact I have felt quite hot at times with all the walking around. It’s a perfect time to go to sauna too! An activity that I love.

Only one week left on my trip now,  and I must say it has been a great trip so far. I thought 2 weeks would be too short but honestly it’s a good length of time. I have filled it with lots of walks, photos, yummy food, quality catch up time with my friend and her baby, shopping, exploring, reading, and time to be creative. We spend so much ‘busy time’ in our lives, that when I travel I really try to slow it down and enjoy every day and take it easy. I have been going to bed really early around 830pm as it is dark by 330pm here and not light again until 9.30am, so different. It is making my body clock want to hibernate! I also have been eating a good lunch around 2 or so and then not interested in dinner at all. Different, unusual!

Okay well that’s it for this blog, I will write another about my Estonian Christmas experience in my next blog!
