I absolutely love Dunsborough. It is the combination of memories and beauty for me down there. Many years ago my best friend from high school invited me down there to stay at their humble but beautiful beach holiday home. I was thrilled. I remember going out for long walks, skinny dips in the sea, and had long lazy warm summer afternoons to relax. Her family was always an inspiration to me and have been very influential in my life, and I continue to be grateful for them to keep having such a positive influence. So this weekend, I was lucky to take my boyfriend down there to show him some of the beauty and have some time to relax, connect and recharge.

We drove out of Perth straight after school/work, and hit bumper to bumper traffic! Urghh, that freeway! Nightmare. But its a means to an end and with patience we made it through. Like usual J falls asleep as soon as we get in the car for a road trip (Lol) so it is just me and my thoughts and the radio and the traffic for the first hour or so, which was relatively relaxing! We had a quick stop for dinner along the way, and then by dark we had reached our destination.
I was up at 5am on the first morning, too excited to sleep, leaving J in bed to catch a few more zzz’s. I flung the curtains open and pulled the chairs outside and enjoyed the fresh morning bird calls, the cacophony of crickets, and tweets of birds as they go about their busy mornings. Drinking cup after cup of coffee, I did some writing, read my books and did some stickering, some of my many fun morning rituals. By the time J was awake, I was ready to hit the beach, YES! Off we trotted, an easy stroll around the corner and went for a nice big walk and jog and occasional cartwheel along the white sandy beach. Crystal clear water, and sparkling rays, the water was a magical aquamarine colour, perfect for swimming and floating around. Ohh the joy!!!

After some more coffee back at the house we decided to head off to explore. We started with the bakery ofcourse, and had a yummy quiche and 5 star moist lamington, and the local markets were on, I do love a market! I wandered around eagerly, in and out of every store, and bought a few new pieces of jewellery, good memories for our time away. Next we set off for Yallingup, another coastal town close by, where we took a massive walk along the beach and had more magical swims in crystal clear cool water. I just love it down there so much, it is my happy place for sure! There were these absolutely gorgeous purple flowers blossoming in the dunes, which is incredible how resilient they are. I was compelled to get as many photos of them as possible!

In the afternoon we popped into Busselton, to visit a friend of J’s, and have a look around and pick up some supplies from ALDI, good different. The best find was their rip off version of the super popular bum bum cream, called ‘booty balm’, hilarious! But actually a pretty great cream! We used them for some mutual foot rubs later that night, always so good.
Sunday morning it was back to the beach for me, my number one happy place. I just love the beach down there so much, it’s perfectly flat and so quiet, I always take a high spirited jog and swim topless preferred, as there was no one around, just perfect. Later that morning we went for a nice long walk along the foreshore from Dunsy main, and took another swim. A great way to end a fun weekend. After cleaning up and packing we were back on the road for the drive home again.

I felt so inspired by my weekend away, I have been pumping out my artwork. I used to have a daily art practise for a few years, and gradually we fall out of our good routines. It soon became weekly art creations and then occasional art creations. Anyone who is creative knows it comes in waves, spurts of inspiration, and compulsive unrelenting urges to create create and create. It’s wild, and very addictive. Today I have made three pieces of art, and actually still feel like making more! Crazy! I thought I would finish this blog off to channel some of this creative energy.
My next major project is to begin to sell my art. In the past 3 days alone, I have had about 4 people tell me I should sell my stuff. It is definitely a sign. I am getting closer to doing it. I have books and books of artwork ready for production. I know when the time comes I will make it happen. Let’s see how it all goes!

Okay, hope you have enjoyed this little update and are possibly feeling inspired by my writing? I hope so!
Take care, Anita xxx
